compare the child.com

I don't care how much you deny it at some time in your childs life you have compared them to either their siblings or another child.    It happens from birth - 'how much did he/she weigh?....... oh billy was bigger than that'  , Is he/she walking, talking, crawling, eating, etc..........  and so it continues!!!!

It is part of human nature.  We can't help it.

No1 son is at school now and obviously bringing home words , books, certificates etc....  and as much as i try to ignore it when he talks about what other children are doing, you cant help but perk your ears up when you hear that so and so is only on this book or only has this amount of words. (I always knew my son was a genius!)

I can hear how pathetic that sounds but you cant tell me that you dont get a small bubble of pleasure when your child comes home proud as punch because the teacher has said that he/she is good at something or he/she has received a sticker or certificate .
Then again as a parent in the playground you often try to play down your childs achievements. 'oh he/she might be on such and such a book but they are no good at P.E' 'Yes, we have reached level billion in swimming but he/she still cant do his/her own top button up!!'  chortle chortle!!

We send our children to activities in the hope that they will make friends and enjoy themselves but secretly we hope they are GOOD at said activity - do we have a premiership football player on our hands, will our little gymnast ever get to the olympics, will our swimmer go for gold and be the youngest ever to swim  the channel???

The darling diva attends a dance school and loves every minute of it, she prances round the room, spins and twirls........... like a fairy elephant!!!! never will she be part of  swan lake, never will she be in baby ballroom competitions but she enjoys herself so much, and that smile on her face is good enough for me!!!!!
