shop, shop, shop, shop, shopping!!!!!!

Its the words that strike fear into my heart ......... 'mummy there's no food in the fridge!!'  which means a trip to the supermarket for me.

I desperately try to avoid taking the two children, as its just a nightmare situation - i did abandon a full trolley in the middle of Tesco's last summer as I couldn't bear the whining, moaning, and fighting!!!!!  and that was just me trying to push it!!

I try to do it in the middle of the night, leaving the kids with hubby and wondering up and down the aisles in blissful silence.!!  And yes i know i could do it on line but a) i live within spitting distance of the supermarket, so cant justify it in my mind and b) I never find the time to place the order and then there is the waiting for it to turn up etc.....

So  inveriably the darling diva comes along..... we drop No1 son off at school and make a made dash for it to miss the older generations and their dithering over which can of pilchards to buy (no disrespect intended but come along grandma, get out of the way I have a toddler just waiting for the opportunity to throw a hissy fit!!!)

I try to go prepared, list ready, juice, dolly, keys for distraction but even this doesn't help - we have now reached a stage where she doesn't want to sit in the trolley  so i have to make up my mind as to which is the lesser of two evils - listening to her create the whole way round the supermarket or letting her walk and not being able to concentrate because she is constantly running off.

Option one can be controlled slightly if i feed her - thats, grapes, cheese, yogurts and sausage rolls!! open packets everywhere and a look of distain on the checkout operators face when i go to pay.   Option two means a happy girl but a frantic mummy as its hard to keep an eye on her as she runs away at the first opportunity, finds things on the shelves that we really don't need and talks to all and sundry!!!

If i can convince her to sit in the trolly, then she has to be in control, reading the list, telling me which aisle to go down, which tins to pick up, what juice to buy etc......  its so all consuming!!  my brain is all over the place and when we finally pay and get home i realise that I have forgotten half the stuff i need, have bought alot of stuff that i dont need and madam has somehow gotten a comic or chocolate out of the whole deal!

So as i start to put the food away I spy something that puts a smile on my face...... the wine is definitely the first thing into the fridge, think I am gonna need it later!!! x
