let it snow.....

Last night I sat on the sofa dreaming of a snowy sunday, one of those ideal days when you get up late, and the snow has settled and looks inviting, you have a warm breakfast discussing the size of the snowman you are going to build, you wrap up in five minutes flat and then its outside on the sledges, throwing well aimed snowballs and laughing all the way down the hill.  After a bracing walk its back indoors for a lovely cup of hot chocolate and then settle down in front of tele to watch a good disney film snuggled under blankets....................

And then the snow came and my beautiful bubble dream burst..........

'mumumumumumum, its awsome out there, its snowed everywhere' its also quarter to six No1 son and technically still night time!!

so we dutifully wolf down dippy eggs, and spend the next twenty minutes fighting over layers of clothes, scarves, hats, gloves etc.........   everything on, ready to go out and the diva announces she needs a wee!!! so, everything off, everything back on finally ready to go out!  ( i did manage to keep them in doors till quarter to nine!!

The puppy seems to love the white stuff, rolling, chasing, burying his head, eating the snow. No1 son loved chasing him around and throwing snowballs at him..... until the diva copped a mouthful !! then the game soured and tears turned to icicles. So to alay the tears we decide to build a snow man - I'm sorry a snow girl as the darling diva 'don't talk to boys!!!' at the moment! think she was a little sore from the snowball in the face from her brother!  Therefore a snow girl was built with red berries for lips and my pink hat!  however, she was not finished, oh no, apparently the snow girl needed something else..... boobies!!!! gotta love my little girl!!

Then comes the moment when the snow is not so much fun any more as your fingers start to tingle with cold as your gloves become sodden, the ice that has landed on your neck from the snowballs starts to melt and dribbles down your back, you cant feel your nose anymore from the cold and the children have candlesticks hanging down... drip, drip, drip.

Time to go in and you spend just as much time getting the sodden clothes off, every radiator is now covered and no heat is coming into the house. The childrens are crying coz their toes, fingers, nose and legs are cold, red and starting to warm up which hurts just as much as the cold!!

You look outside and that beautiful view of crisp white snow covered garden is now a mushy, messed up, in our case yellow (guess why!! remember casper the dog!!) slush that used to resemble my garden!!!!!
 Am now wondering if school will be open, hoping it is so No1 son is out from under my feet, but also hoping its shut so i dont have to drive in the icy sludge and get the diva all dressed up for the school run!!   Do i have enough food in (honestly its a little bit of frozen water!!! what is wrong with me!!)

Ah well, charlie and the chocolate factory is on the tele, gonna cuddle up and watch it and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow xxxxx

  1. I remember those days Katie! Love reading these blogs so much! My day has been watching darling hubby clear snow from patio and drive, but still unable to move the white stuff off the Sky tv dish/receiver! No telly picture at the mo', so if I still had small children would not be watching Charlie & The Choc Factory now unfortunately! Downside was dear Cat decided it was too cold to use 'outside loo' last night and as I had forgot to bring litter tray in from Conservatory, nice 'pressie' in spare bedroom this morning! xx
