words of wisdom!!

This morning as we were getting ready for the school run, the darling diva had a glint in her eye and was looking around to see where I was......
'Madam,' I said 'what mummy, i not do nothing!' came the response 'but you were thinking about it, mummy knows!!' was my comeback!!  Oh dear, where had i heard those words before, oh yes my own mum!!

So, i started thinking about all those things I say that are actual echos of my mum and undoubtedly mothers around the world.......
'when you are older you will understand'  = I can't explain right now, its too much like hard work
'Life is unfair' = I can't think of a better explaination right now!
'Because money doesn't grow on trees' =  the car cost more than we thought to fix!!
'I have eyes in the back of my head' = mums are actually just as sneaky as kids!!
'Well someone must have done it!' = I am begining to loose my patience
And the very best line ever.......... 'Because I said so!' no explanation needed.

Then of course there are the words no mother will ever utter.......

'Be good and I will buy you a motorbike'
'make as much mess as you want, you are being creative'
'Don,t use a tissue, use your sleeve'
'Of course you can eat that big bar of chocolate just before dinner'
'Why don't you play with the real cooker and knives in the kitchen!

And then there are those things we wish  our mums had told us.............
It will always rain at school pick up time
Babies will always wait till their nappies are off before they pee
You can't argue with a five year old without becoming one yourself.
Baking birthday cakes is hard and generally not as good as the supermarket.
If you have children you will inevitably end up sounding just like your own mem!!!!
